“Payvar Foundation” was established at the end of 2017 to organize and preserve a gigantic collection of handwritten works by Iranian musicians that exclusively exist under dust in various drawers and shelves. Since Faramarz Payvar, single-handedly as it is now evident, carried out the task of documenting everything imaginable and accomplished remarkable outcomes throughout his life, this house was named “Payvar,” a name that encompasses vigilance, perseverance, resilience, and guardianship, all embodied in one person. So, as consistently and steadily as possible, we will publish significant works of Iranian music in booklets for historical documentation and perhaps for a limited audience. The circulation of these booklets will be limited, given that “The Payvar Foundation” is a private institute with limited financial resources, and we estimate that fewer than a thousand people feel the need for such works. “Payvar Foundation” was established with the support of these few discerning music enthusiasts. We expect their guidance and insights. This foundation, “Payvar Foundation,” would not have taken shape without the kindness and goodwill of the esteemed wife of Faramarz Payvar, the Tehrani Azad family, the Samadpour family, and key individuals at the “Manzoumeh Kherad Institute.”
